Statistics show that wine consumption , including still, light and sparkling wines grew by 33.4 percent in China. Chinese wine consumption reached 156.19 million 9-liter cases in 2011, putting China in fifth place in the top five wine-consuming nations worldwide, ahead of the U.K.

Wine sales in China grew by 240% in the past five years, and between 2011 an 2015 is expected to rise by 54.25%.
Today, Chinese drinks an average of 1.9 to 2 liters of wine per capita yearly. By contrast, French and Itailian wine consumption will averge to 50 liters per capita yearly by 2015. Americans will drink 13 liters of wine per capital.
